ROSSES POINT
County Sligo Golf Club
Benbulben, the sea, and 18 holes of pure links golf
County Sligo Golf Club — known to all as Rosses Point — sits beneath the flat-topped silhouette of Benbulben, one of the most recognisable mountains in Ireland. It is a course that has been shaping golfers since 1894, and one that rewards those who take the time to understand it.
The links tumbles across a headland between Sligo Bay and the Drumcliff estuary, with the lighthouse at Oyster Island marking the horizon on the approach to the 17th. W.B. Yeats, who is buried in the shadow of Benbulben just a few miles away, called this corner of Ireland the land of heart's desire. On a clear evening at Rosses Point, it is easy to understand why.
"One of the great links experiences on the island of Ireland."
