About the course
Portstewart's Strand Course is one of the great links experiences in Northern Ireland — a course that begins with what many consider the finest opening hole in golf: a blind tee shot over a ridge of towering dunes, followed by a downhill approach to a green set against the Atlantic. The course was extended and redesigned in 1992 by Des Giffin, who incorporated the magnificent Thistly Hollow dune complex into the first seven holes. It hosted the Irish Open in 2017, when Jon Rahm announced himself to the world.
